Archeological and Historical Bologna Association is born february the 13th, 2017 as a free and independent association between some young historians, archeologists and local history lovers to coordinate and make more visibile and concrete their volounteering work, that since 2014 keep them busy to guarantee, through their passionate and competent presence, the opening to the public of some of the most important and suggestive historical sites of the city of Bologna: the tower bell of the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Peter and the archeological excavations near the crypt. Before the beginning of our activity these sites were unaccessible to the public, and thanks to the contributes of the visitors we commit ourselves to make that this incredible heritage of the whole city could always remain accessible in the future.

From 2020, we will also work to guarantee the opening of the cathedral’s treausre museum, maybe the most important collection of liturgical jewelry in Emilia Romagna.

Due to the helps collected during the tours and a cofinancing of the Carisbo Foundation we made in 2018 a first intervention of securing a part of the archeological excavations. We do not want to stop here! There is a lot of work to do to fully recover these and many more gems of our wealthy and too often unknown bolognese cultural heritage!

Our association, even if young, is in costant developement and wants to expand its activity in new and significatives urban sites; is open to collaborate with private and ents, as well as welcome new volounteers and members!
